Ventura Beach Camping Guide


Here you’ll find pertinent information on Ventura beach camping sites such as location, facilities available, number of tent and/or RV sites and contact numbers.

Ventura is a great place to camp at the beach, due to it’s mild climate, moderate ocean temperatures, proximity to Santa Barbara (about a half hour’s drive), and fun local things to see and do in Ventura itself.

VENTURA CAMPGROUNDS

Emma Wood State Beach This sandy beach, located 4 miles north of Ventura, is open all year. You can fish, hike, swim, surf or windsurf. There is a freshwater marsh at one end of the beach where there is good bird watching and wildlife viewing. Ruins of a World War II coastal artillery site are located in the park. Another option for Ventura beach camping is Emma Wood North Beach, which has 90 spots for fully contained vehicles only. There is no drinking water or showers. Tent camping is available at Emma Wood Group Camp for groups of up to 30 people. Primitive RV camping is available here for groups up to 50 people. There are restrooms here and water and fire rings. Faria Park County Campground This campground is open all year and is located 7 miles northwest of Ventura. They have flush toilets and showers. They have 38 tent sites and 4 RV sites. They also have fire rings and a playground. You can surf and surf fish here. There is a rocky shore and a sandy beach. Call 805-654-3951.

Hobson Park County Campground This campground is also open all year and is found 9 miles northwest of Ventura, up the coast. They have 21 tent sites and 10 RV sites. You’ll find water, flush toilets, showers and fire rings. You can swim and fish. There is a rocky shore. Call 805-654-3951.

McGrath State Beach There is a nature trail to the Santa Clara Estuary Natural Preserve, where there is great bird watching. It is open all year and contains 176 tent and RV sites. This campground is 5 miles south of Ventura. You’ll find educational exhibits, programs and guided tours. You can hike, fish, surf, swim (with caution), and/or windsurf. There is an excellent reef to explore at low tide. The camping facilities include have water, flush toilets, showers and fire rings. Call 800-444-7275 or 805-968-1033. Rincon RV Parkway This is open all year and is 6 miles to the northwest of Ventura, on the waterfront. They have 127 RV sites. Their facilities are limited, with no drinking water, no showers, and pit toilets. You can surf fish, and there is a playground. There is a sandy beach and a rocky shore. Call 805-654-3951.

Ventura Beach RV Resort This campground has 24 tent sites and 144 RV sites. They have an outdoor pool, a playground and a recreation room. They also have water, showers and flush toilets. Call 805-643-9137.
