The Wedge Newport Beach

The Wedge is located at the end of the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach California, between the Balboa Pier and the Jetty. It's famous for its large waves that crash very close to shore, making it quite dangerous to bodysurf, surf or swim unless you're very experienced and know what you're in for. There have been plenty of injuries and even at least one death I've heard of.
But if you're not a pro, you can still enjoy the show from the beach -- not only watching the body boarding action, but also seeing and hearing the magnificent waves crashing and pounding the shore.
