Santa Monica Parking Information

Though the area is very busy, especially in summer, there are several options in Santa Monica parking, whether near the beach or one of the popular shopping areas. If you’re not staying in a hotel near the beach, you may have to brave the traffic to get there.

At Santa Monica Beach, you can park north of the pier at one of the many lots along Pacific Coast Highway (otherwise known as PCH or Hwy. 1). They generally cost $6 for the day everyday, year round. Short term parking may be available at some lots for4 $1 per hour with a 2 hour maximum. They are open 8-5 in winter and 8-7 in summer.

Next to the Santa Monica Pier, there is a parking pier called Newcomb Pier which charges $7 for the day from Monday through Thursday, and $8 for Friday-Sunday. Note: These are summer rates, and may go down after September 30.

There is also a large lot on Ocean Ave. at PCH. Whenever you find metered parking, it’s generally 50 cents per hour.

For Will Rogers State Beach, there are more lots extending along Pacific Coast Highway on the beach side. These can run 2-5 dollars. The further away from the Santa Monica Pier you get, the cheaper (and less crowded) they are.

Convenient to the Third Street Promenade and the beach there are three parking garages on 2nd Street between Wilshire and Broadway. Two blocks further from the beach are 3 more Santa Monica parking garages on 4th Street between Wilshire and Broadway. Parking here is generally free for the first 2 hours, then $1 per half hour after that, with a $7 daily maximum. After 6 p.m. there is a $3 flat rate.

Along Neilson Way (runs parallel to the beach between Main Street and the beach) there are some metered spaces in lots 9, 10 and 11 which are open 24 hours.
