Getting To
Newport Beach CA

Luckily, there are several ways to get to Newport Beach CA. Southern California and Orange County in particular can seem like a total maze of freeways, most of which grind to a halt at rush hour. It's important to have options.

If you have access to a computer before setting out, go to Google Maps and type in Newport Beach, then click on traffic. You can see right there on your little screen, what the current freeway conditions are and adjust your travel route accordingly. Cool, huh?

Basically, the main approaches to Newport Beach are the following:

From up or down the coast, (Huntington Beach or Laguna Beach), you can take Highway 1 all the way and drive along the coast. Or, you can take the 405 freeway from points north or south and get off at the 55 south, which turns into Newport Blvd and takes you all the way to the peninsula in about 15 minutes.

From central Los Angeles, the I-5 will also cross the 55, where you can head south, eventually finding yourself on Newport Boulevard.

If you are heading for Balboa Island, get off at MacArthur near the John Wayne Airport, and stay in the right until you can veer right onto Jamboree. Follow Jamboree a long way, past the Fashion Island shopping center, cross Pacific Coast Highway, and across the bridge onto the island.

For Corona Del Mar you can do the same as above, only stay on MacArthur (don't take Jamboree) all the way to Pacific Coast Highway and you're there.

If traffic is bad, roll down your windows, turn up the music and just enjoy breathing in the Pacific Ocean breezes! Don't worry, you'll get there.
